How MetaMask Rewards works
MetaMask Rewards was launched by Consensys in 2025 to compete with native exchange rewards programmes. The mechanic is points-based rather than direct token. Activity inside MetaMask (swaps, bridges, NFT mints via the in-app interface) earns points; points convert to swap-fee rebates or, periodically, to one-off airdrops.
How to claim the referral bonus
- Get a referral code from an existing MetaMask Rewards user. Codes are in the format of the inviter's wallet address shortened or a custom string.
- Sign up to MetaMask Rewards at metamask.io/rewards. Connect your existing MetaMask wallet (or create a new one).
- Enter the referral code during sign-up. Cannot be added later.
- Receive 500 sign-up points instantly. Bonus appears in your Rewards dashboard.
- Earn ongoing points from activity. Swaps, bridges and partner-integration usage all earn points. Inviter gets 10 points per qualified action.
What MetaMask points are worth
As of 2026, points convert at approximately 1 point = $0.001–$0.005 in swap-fee rebate value. The 500 sign-up bonus is worth approximately $0.50–$2.50. The real value of MetaMask Rewards is the airdrop optionality — Consensys has hinted at converting some portion of points into a future token, similar to how Linea (also Consensys-owned) ran its points campaign before the LINEA token launch.
MetaMask hardware wallet integration
MetaMask supports Ledger, Trezor and Keystone hardware wallets natively. Using a hardware wallet through MetaMask gives you the MetaMask UX with hardware-level signing security — the recommended setup for any holder above a few thousand dollars. Hardware-secured MetaMask transactions still earn Rewards points.
MetaMask phishing is the #1 cause of wallet drains in 2026
Wallet-draining scams target MetaMask users more than any other Web3 wallet by absolute volume. Three rules: never enter your seed phrase into a "MetaMask support" form (no such form exists), never approve transactions from URLs you don't recognise, always check the contract address before approving any token spend. The official MetaMask Twitter publishes scam alerts weekly. Read the latest official MetaMask security guide.
MetaMask Card (US/EU)
The MetaMask Card (Mastercard, issued via Mastercard's crypto partnership programme) is a debit card that spends directly from your MetaMask wallet's USDC balance. Cashback is currently 1% in USDC for US users, with promotional periods reaching 2%. Stacks cleanly with MetaMask Rewards points.
Frequently asked questions about MetaMask
How much is a MetaMask point worth?
Approximately $0.001–$0.005 in swap-fee rebate value as of 2026. The 500-point sign-up bonus is worth $0.50–$2.50 immediately. Most points value comes from future airdrop optionality rather than direct redemption.
Can I earn points with a hardware-wallet-secured MetaMask?
Yes. Using MetaMask with a Ledger or Trezor connection still earns Rewards points for swaps, bridges and partner activity. The hardware integration doesn't disable the rewards programme.
Is MetaMask Card available in my country?
MetaMask Card is currently available to US and EU users with a verified MetaMask account. Roll-out to UK and other markets is planned but not live as of 2026.
Does the LINEA airdrop reward MetaMask users?
The Linea airdrop (which started distribution in 2024) rewarded historical Consensys ecosystem activity, including some MetaMask usage. Future Consensys-aligned airdrops (Infura, Linea v2) may follow similar patterns.
What's the difference between MetaMask Rewards and MetaMask Earn?
Rewards is the points programme described here. Earn refers to MetaMask's staking and yield-product integrations (ETH staking via Lido and Rocket Pool, USDC yield via Aave). They're independent but stack — you can stake ETH via MetaMask Earn and still earn Rewards points on your other swaps.
